In the last post, we talked about how mindfulness is directly connected to happiness.
As a gentle reminder, mindfulness means to be completely present in the moment, and not let the mind wander off on its own, without our consent. From today, we can talk about steps to become more mindful in our daily lives.
So here is tip 1: Do not dwell on thoughts from the past
Our mind keeps bringing thoughts from the past, whether it is from a conversation with our friend a few minutes back, an incident that took place yesterday, or a memory from our childhood days. Be aware of such thoughts, and drop them, and come back to the present moment.
I know this is easier said than done. But, practice makes perfect, and with time, this will become effortless.
Please note that this does not mean that we never recollect incidents from our past. What we are trying to practise is not let the mind wander off on its own, without our consent! When you need to, feel free to go back to the past, and consciously recollect those beautiful memories you have!
